Ekonomiczno-Ekonometryczne Roczniki Naukowe

Economic and Econometric Scientific Annals

Ekonomiczno-Ekonometryczne Roczniki Naukowe (Economic and Econometric Scientific Annals) is an open-access journal dedicated to ensuring easy access to research. We invite all researchers to submit papers covering a broad spectrum of economic topics. The mission of the journal is to enable the publication of extensive theoretical and empirical articles (up to 10,000 words), as well as to present short research findings (up to 2,000 words). However, the most important feature of articles in EERN is data reproducibility, which we implement through rigorous peer review. Articles can be submitted via our editorial system, and upon receiving a positive review, the article will appear immediately on the website.

Each article undergoes a rigorous double-blind peer-review process. Given our publication format, the editorial board reserves the right to make linguistic and stylistic corrections prior to publication.

Articles are published in both Polish and English (British English).

Thanks to our collaboration with Crossref, we make the metadata of our articles widely available. This allows us to integrate with various databases, assign Digital Object Identifiers (DOI), and link publications to ORCID identifiers. We have also implemented the Crossmark service, which ensures that each article has a clearly described current status and that all important changes, corrections, and updates are transparently communicated to readers.

Review and Publication Process

Once the text has been anonymized, the completed manuscript in MS Word format should be submitted through the editorial system. Within a few weeks, you will receive two grades from the following:

Articles are published under the CC BY 4.0 license, which permits distribution and copying of the article; creation of excerpts, abstracts, and other adaptations, derivative works, or adaptations based on the article (including translations); inclusion in collective works; extraction of text or data from the article content, including for commercial purposes. In such cases, authors must be properly cited, the date of the original publication and the applied license must be clearly indicated; any changes must be explicitly noted; the article must not be altered in a way that damages the reputation or good name of the authors.

The journal is completely free for both Authors and Readers, implementing the Diamond Open Access publishing policy.

For Authors

Article types

In particular, we encourage the publication of articles such as:

In strictly justified cases, it is possible to publish longer articles or those going beyond the indicated scope. However, in such cases it should be noted that the peer-review process will be extended.

Titular Economic and Econometric seeks to encourage the submission of diverse research works, including articles on:

Ethics

We expect authors to adhere to COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) standards. By submitting an article, authors declare that:

  • Scientific Rigor: The article contains original research results, described objectively. Fabrication, falsification of data, or plagiarism are unacceptable.
  • Authorship Authority: All listed authors have made substantial contributions (concept, methods, analysis, editing). No "honorary authors" or omitted co-authors.
  • Dual Publication: The article has not been previously published and is not under consideration at another journal. However, articles from "preprint" servers are acceptable.
  • Conflicts of Interest: Authors disclose any financial, personal, or institutional connections that may affect objectivity.
  • Data Sources: Full documentation of methods and source data enabling research replication.
  • Citation: Appropriate and fair citation of other authors' works; avoiding excessive self-citations to artificially increase bibliometrics.
CC BY 4.0

In the event of violations, the editors may withdraw the article, inform the author's institution, and block future publication. By submitting an article, the author automatically consents to its publication under the CC BY 4.0 license and to adhere to COPE's ethical standards.

Using AI in the Creation Process

Authors are required to clearly and unambiguously indicate how artificial intelligence was used in the preparation of the article, e.g., for data analysis, text generation, or supporting the research process. The scope and role of AI should be described precisely to ensure transparency and credibility of the publication.

Failure to declare the use of AI constitutes grounds for rejecting the article (even before submission to reviewers). Since the methods section of a scholarly work aims to provide a detailed description of the article creation process, artificial intelligence - due to the novelty of this technology - deserves a separate declaration.

Article template

To accommodate Authors, we use the Your Paper, Your Way formula - we do not declare any restrictions regarding the formatting of submissions, although we prefer to use our ready-made template. However, we strongly request that sources be cited according to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th edition from 2020. The article may still be rejected if the following conditions are not met:

To facilitate the work of our Proofreaders, however, we ask that you follow the present guidelines - this may accelerate the publication process.

Replicability Badge

Within one month of the article's publication, the Editorial Board conducts an analysis during which a gold, silver, or bronze medal may be awarded. The level of the medal determines the further promotion of the article by EERN through indexing or search results.

Gold medal for exemplary data replicability Silver medal for solid data replicability Bronze medal for good data replicability

Awarded for data replicability in empirical articles – the Editorial Board evaluates the article in terms of data replicability based on the following criteria:

If a badge is awarded an appropriate badge icon will appear next to the article title. A gold medal is awarded for 5 points, a silver medal for 4 points, and a bronze medal for 3 points. No medals are awarded to the remaining articles. If data that were initially paid become publicly available and free of charge, it is possible to request a re-evaluation of the score.

For Reviewers

General Guidelines

The review of Communications should take no longer than 2 weeks from receipt (max. 6 weeks). For longer works (Full Articles), the time is not specified and may exceed 3 months.

After the first review, you will be added to the list of potential reviewers. If you wish to collaborate, please contact us at kontakt@eern.pl.

Review of Full Article

After receiving the manuscript, reviewers should describe their general impressions of the reviewed work and answer the following questions:

For works of empirical character, reviewers should also pay attention to the correct application of methods, proper interpretation of results, and their reproducibility. A complete lack of reproducibility constitutes grounds for returning the work for revision, even if the rest of the article fully meets the requirements.

Review of Communication

After receiving the communication, reviewers should describe their general impressions of the reviewed work and answer the following questions:

For communications of theoretical character, e.g., case study, literature review, or policy memorandum, reviewers should also pay attention to the modernity of the literature, where:

For communications of empirical character, a complete lack of reproducibility constitutes grounds for immediate rejection of the work.

Procedure in Case of Conflicts of Interest

If the author is recognizable, the review proceeds normally with a note at the beginning or end. If there is any kinship, affiliation, or personal acquaintance, the review should be halted and a conflict of interest reported in the system. Reviewers may submit their own works - the Editorial Board will ensure conflicts are avoided.

Use of AI in the Review Process

Reviewers are forbidden from using generative AI for summaries, evaluation, decisions, or the entire review process. The review process is more important than writing itself.

Authors may use AI as a technical tool (data analysis, language correction), with full transparency and a clear declaration in the text. Review, however, requires critical thinking, ethical evaluation, and understanding of the research context - this cannot be entrusted to an algorithm. Independent reviewer assessment guarantees publication credibility.

Detection of AI in a review results in immediate termination of cooperation and - ultimately - reporting of an ethics violation to the reviewer's parent institution.
